Electric cars in Ukraine: Where they buy the most and which models they choose

In October 2024, the car fleet of Ukraine was replenished with almost 4.3 thousand electric vehicles (BEV), which indicates the persistent interest of Ukrainians in ecological transport. The largest number of new registrations of electric cars was recorded in the city of Kyiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Lviv regions, which lead among regions in terms of demand for electric cars.

According to Ukravtoprom, the capital showed the highest registration rates – 604 new electric cars were registered in Kyiv, of which 48% were used cars. Lviv region showed a significant demand for electric vehicles with 597 registered cars, of which 92% are used. 364 electric cars were registered in Kyiv region, of which 69% are cars with mileage, while Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions registered 310 and 267 cars, respectively, of which 75% are used.

The popularity of electric cars among new cars has its leaders in different regions. In Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv and Odesa regions, Honda M-NV is at the top of the rating - a model that has gained popularity due to its economy and modern design. At the same time, Volkswagen iD.4 took first place in the Kyiv region, which attracts buyers with its technical characteristics and reliability.

In the segment of used electric cars imported from abroad, Tesla Model Y and Nissan Leaf dominate. In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, Tesla Model Y confidently leads the number of registrations, as well as in the Dnipropetrovsk region. On the other hand, in Odesa and Lviv regions, the Nissan Leaf holds the lead, which remains popular due to its affordable price and reliability.

The growing demand for electric cars in Ukraine reflects the global trend towards the transition to ecological transport, and Ukrainian consumers are increasingly choosing electric cars not only for economy, but also with concern for the environment. There is also an increase in the share of new electric cars, which indicates the development of infrastructure and the improvement of conditions for owners of electric cars.

Thus, the market of electric cars in Ukraine demonstrates stable dynamics, and the leading regions of the country become an example for others. Taking into account the demand and the stable growth of registrations, it is expected that in the coming years, electric cars will occupy an even larger share of the Ukrainian car market.
