The Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill banning the transit of Russian oil and gas

A new bill has been registered in Ukraine, which provides for a ban on the transit of Russian oil and gas through the territory of Ukraine during martial law. This was reported on the official website of the Verkhovna Rada, where the card of the bill No. 12380 is posted.

At the moment, the text of the bill has not yet been published, and it has not been submitted for consideration to the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada. The bill is currently only registered, and its further fate will depend on the further stages of consideration in parliament.

The initiators of this bill were 18 people's deputies from the political party "European Solidarity", among whom is former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The legislative initiative is aimed at limiting Russian energy influence on Ukraine during the period of martial law.

It is important to note that currently Ukraine continues to transport Russian oil to Europe through the Druzhba oil pipeline. Under the current contract, this agreement is valid until the end of 2029, which, if the bill is adopted, may be revised or amended.

In parallel, the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine was suspended from January 1, 2025. This step became part of Ukraine's strategy to reduce dependence on Russian energy resources and increase energy security.

If the bill is adopted, it will be an important step in implementing Ukraine's sanctions policy and increasing pressure on Russia in the current geopolitical situation.
