  • NATO insists on investing in defense companies

    Опубликовано: 2023-09-19 14:00:33

After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the demand for weapons and military equipment has suddenly increased in NATO. To this end, the Alliance insists on increasing defense production. This was reported by Reuters.

One of the serious problems is the shortage of 155-millimeter artillery shells. The Ukrainian military produces up to 10,000 of these munitions per day. NATO member states are not only trying to quickly supply them to Kyiv, but are also building up their own stockpiles.

Rob Bauer, Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, noted that ammunition prices are rising sharply, so more defense spending by allies does not automatically guarantee increased security. He called for increased private investment in defense companies and to stop calling defense investments unethical.

"Long-term stability should outweigh short-term profits. As we have seen in Ukraine, war is an event that affects the whole society," he said.

He also called on business leaders to accelerate the expansion of production capacity.
