Ukraine has launched an ambitious project to create a test site for testing the latest technologies in the field of mine action. Particular attention will be paid to the use of artificial intelligence and other advanced developments that can significantly speed up the demining process. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with partners, has already determined the location of the future complex.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Currently, representatives of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, the United Nations Development Program, the Ministry of Economy and the National Association of Defense Industries have assessed the capabilities of the existing infrastructure. They discussed the potential of the test site for testing technologies and visited the site of the future facility.
The next stage will be the development of a roadmap for creating the test site, forming a working group and preparing for the first tests of innovative equipment.
“Together with our partners, we have identified the main areas of further work and made a decision to create a training and testing complex. Here, not only will the latest technologies in the field of mine action be tested, but also a bank of innovative solutions for effective demining will be created,” said Olga Drobot, a representative of the Main Department of Mine Action.
Experts emphasize that the launch of such a landfill will contribute to the development of new technologies that will help accelerate humanitarian demining, increase the safety of sappers and reduce risks to the civilian population. This is an important step towards clearing Ukrainian territories from explosive threats and ensuring the safe lives of citizens.
