Ukraine expects $2.7 billion from IMF in 2025: government plans for next year

Ukraine plans to receive $2.7 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2025, which will become an important component of its financial policy. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Shmyhal.

He noted that in the coming days an IMF mission will begin, which will carry out the seventh review of the joint EFF (Extended Financing Facility) program. During this process, details of further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF will be discussed. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with the Fund, especially in the current economic situation caused by the war.

Shmyhal also thanked the IMF for its support over the past few years. According to the results of six previous reviews of the EFF program, Ukraine managed to attract about $9.8 billion. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the IMF has provided Ukraine with over $12.4 billion, which has helped stabilize the financial situation and implement economic reforms.

Despite serious challenges, Ukraine continues to implement important reforms and transformations aimed at increasing the efficiency of the economy and strengthening state institutions. Shmyhal emphasized that cooperation with the IMF remains a key element in ensuring the country’s stable economic development.

Thanks to the active support of international financial institutions, Ukraine is able not only to cope with economic difficulties, but also to work on implementing the necessary structural changes. The government hopes for further close interaction with the IMF, which will allow it to attract additional financial resources to ensure stability in the country.

Attracting $2.7 billion in 2025 will be an important step to support economic development and implement key reforms, which remain a priority for Ukraine even in times of war.
