In 2024, business in Ukraine made a significant repayment of debts to banks in the process of liquidation by the decision of the Deposit Guarantee Fund for Individuals (DGFI). The total amount of repaid debts amounted to UAH 433.7 million, which significantly exceeds the indicators of the previous year. This was reported by the press service of the Fund.
Of this amount, more than UAH 373 million was the repayment of debts of business entities, which indicates significant progress in fulfilling business obligations. The remaining UAH 60 million came from individuals who repaid loans as part of the restructuring introduced for the period of martial law.
The DGFI paid special attention to the dynamics of debt repayment by businesses, in particular in the IV quarter of 2024. There was a significant increase in revenues from debt repayment by business entities, which can be explained by restructuring under loan agreements concluded with insolvent banks.
An important component of restructuring is the ability of borrowers to avoid lawsuits and maintain their business reputation, which motivates them to take a more responsible approach to fulfilling their obligations. This, in turn, increases the level of financial discipline in the country's business environment.
As noted in the DGF, in 2022 the amount of revenues from restructuring programs amounted to about UAH 176 million. In 2024, this figure increased 2.5 times, which indicates the success of restructuring and the improvement of the financial situation of many companies.
In general, increased activity in repaying debts allows the Fund to more effectively fulfill its obligations to liquidate insolvent banks and maintain the stability of the banking system of Ukraine.
