The global market of electric vehicles: sales growth against the background of various dynamics

In June of this year, global sales of fully electric and hybrid vehicles increased by 13% compared to the same period last year, despite the decline in the European market. According to Reuters, this positive trend is due to the growth of demand in China, while Europe saw a decline in sales.

The total volume of sales of electric vehicles in the world in June reached 1.4 million units, of which 0.86 million were in China. The country recorded a 25% increase compared to the previous year, which indicates a high level of acceptance of electric cars among Chinese consumers.

Meanwhile, in Europe, monthly sales fell 7% to 0.30 million vehicles. Finland, Ireland and the Netherlands have seen particular losses, although Italy has seen a 34% increase following the introduction of government incentives to support electric vehicles.

In the United States and Canada, sales of electric vehicles rose 6% to 0.14 million units in June. Positive dynamics are also observed in other parts of the world, in particular in Brazil, where BYD car sales have more than tripled compared to June 2023.

According to forecasts, 16.6 million electric cars are expected to be sold in the world this year. The Chinese market is of great importance in this regard, where at the moment the majority of sales fall on the domestic consumer market, which is supported by the availability of a wide range of models and high production volumes.

Thus, despite regional fluctuations, the electric vehicle market continues to show stable growth, in particular thanks to the development of infrastructure and the support of government programs in a number of countries.
