The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine is preparing a resolution on the expansion of the experimental project on the remote inspection of destroyed housing in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) and in the combat zone. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The project, which was first launched in Melitopol, uses the technology of remote sensing of the Earth to detect and record the destruction of housing. This makes it possible to enter data on damaged property into the State Real Estate Register, which is necessary for the subsequent payment of compensation to the affected owners.

During the implementation of this project, the commission under the Melitopol City Council reviewed and recorded in the State Register four applications for compensation for destroyed real estate objects. Housing certificates have already been issued for two of them to pay compensation to the owners.

The commissions created under the executive bodies of local self-government or regional military administrations will enter the destroyed objects into the Register after receiving aerial photographs. This will make it possible to quickly fix the damage and provide an evidence base for further compensations.

"It is very good that we have a solution that will allow us to scale this experimental project. For now, the main thing is to record the numerous destructions caused to our cities by the enemy and not to give him the opportunity to hide these crimes. The collected evidence base can be used in the International Registry of Damages for their compensation ", Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized.

Previously, inspection and registration of damaged housing could only take place in government-controlled territory. However, the new resolution will allow scaling the technology of remote sensing of the Earth to other temporarily occupied territories and combat zones. This project is currently at the stage of approval by the central executive authorities.

After receiving all the necessary conclusions and comments, the document will be sent to the government for review, which will allow expanding the scope of technology to fix the destruction and further help the victims.
