Educational process in the new academic year: plans and challenges

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine does not plan to recommend that schools start the new academic year 2024/2025 earlier than usual. This decision was made in view of current circumstances and possible problems in the energy sector that may affect the educational process. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi during the "Question Hour for the Government" in the Verkhovna Rada.

If the situation in the energy sector worsens, the Ministry of Education is considering the possibility of switching schools to blended or online learning. This format will ensure the continuity of the educational process even under conditions of unstable energy supply. In addition, classes in such cases will begin at 10:00 a.m., which will allow more efficient use of daylight and reduce the load on the power grid.

Minister of Forestry emphasized the importance of schools' readiness for various scenarios of the development of events. He noted that all educational institutions should be provided with the necessary resources for the transition to distance or mixed learning. This includes technical equipment, software and Internet access for all participants in the educational process.

Oksen Lisovyi also emphasized that curricula and lesson schedules will be adapted to the new conditions. In particular, it is possible to shorten the duration of lessons and increase the breaks between them to reduce the load on students and teachers. At the same time, curricula will be revised to ensure maximum efficiency and quality of education.

Issues of energy security and stability are extremely important for the functioning of all spheres of social life, including education. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Science actively cooperates with other state bodies and institutions to ensure proper conditions for the educational process in any circumstances.

Only joint efforts can overcome the challenges facing the education system and provide decent conditions for learning and development of the young generation.
