According to the Supreme Court of Ukraine, during the first five months of 2024, 343 Ukrainians filed for bankruptcy. This number is 2.2 times higher than the same period last year. In total, over the past five years, almost 2,000 personal bankruptcy cases were registered in the country. Information is provided by "Opendatabot".

It is noted that only during the current year, 343 Ukrainians decided to turn to the court with a request to declare them insolvent.

"The number of bankruptcy cases has increased by 2.2 times compared to the same period last year. 575 people received the status of bankrupt over the whole of last year," analysts emphasize.

According to experts, the minimum number of bankruptcy cases was recorded in 2019.

"That was the first time the law allowed citizens to apply to the court to declare themselves insolvent. In 2019, only 22 such cases were registered. Since then, the number of people who want to obtain the status of bankrupt has been steadily increasing: 8.3 times in 2020 and 2.7 times in 2021," Opendatabot emphasizes.

In total, 1,993 bankruptcy cases of Ukrainians were opened during the entire period. Every second bankrupt aged 25 to 45: 58% or more than 1,100 people.

A third of them are over 45 years old — 38.3% or 764 people. Young people under the age of 25 have the smallest number of bankrupts - only 3.7%.

The gender distribution is almost equal: 54% of all bankrupts are men, and 46% are women.
