The Impact of Drinking Lots of Tea on Men's Health

A study by scientists from the University of Glasgow has revealed an unexpected link between tea consumption and the risk of developing prostate cancer in men. Long-term observation has shown that men who drink seven or more cups of tea a day face a 50% increased risk of the disease. These results were obtained based on an analysis of the health of more than 6,000 men over 40 years.

Previously, studies have proven the benefits of tea due to the content of flavonoids and antioxidants, which reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and even Parkinson's disease. However, the new study questions these findings, demonstrating that the effect of tea may be more complex and ambiguous than previously thought.

Dr Kashif Shafik, who leads the research team at the University of Glasgow, emphasized that the study took into account all possible negative factors. The study participants were men who led a healthy lifestyle, did not drink alcohol and did not smoke. Despite this, 6.4% of the participants were diagnosed with the disease over 37 years.

The reason for the negative impact of tea remains unclear. Dr. Shafik suggested that men who drink a lot of tea may live longer, reaching ages when prostate cancer becomes more common. Thus, there may be an indirect link between long-term tea consumption and the disease.

It is important to note that the scientists do not recommend giving up tea completely, but recommend moderation. Limiting consumption to three to four cups a day can help avoid potential risks while maintaining the benefits of tea for the body.

This result highlights the importance of conducting new studies to better understand the effects of different drinks on health. Men should monitor the amount of tea they consume and consult with their doctors to prevent possible diseases.
