In 2025, Ukraine's defense-industrial complex (DIC) may significantly increase its production capabilities, reaching $35 billion. This information was released by the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin, reports Ukrinform. This indicates the rapid development and scaling of production in wartime conditions, as well as support for international investment.

According to Smetanin, back in 2022, the volume of defense products produced in Ukraine amounted to only $1 billion. Already in 2023, this figure tripled, and in 2024 the volume reached $9 billion of its own funds, plus an additional $1.5 billion of foreign investment. Despite this, Ukrainian enterprises were able to produce twice as much defense products as in previous years, reaching a volume of about $20 billion.

The significant increase in the production capabilities of the defense industry indicates the adaptation of Ukrainian enterprises to the difficult conditions of war and the ability to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the necessary equipment and technology. The Ministry for Strategic Industries actively supports the expansion and modernization of production capacities, attracting investments and improving internal production mechanisms.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Strategic Issues, noted that during the Soviet Union, defense products produced by Ukrainian enterprises accounted for 18% of the total volume of Soviet defense production. This was measured in the amount of about $ 25 billion. Today, Ukraine is trying not only to restore this level, but also to significantly exceed it, providing a larger volume of products for its own needs and for export.

In the conditions of military operations, the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine is experiencing a stage of unprecedented development. During 2024, Ukrainian enterprises actively worked on the production of important equipment for the front, in particular armored vehicles, artillery, ammunition and unmanned aerial vehicles. This allowed to significantly improve the country's defense capability and ensure the strategic needs of the state.

Given this development dynamics, Ukraine seeks not only to meet domestic needs, but also to export defense industry products to partner countries. It is expected that production capacities will continue to grow, as the country is actively working to improve the investment climate and improve the quality of defense technologies.

In general, in 2025, the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine has every chance of reaching a level that will not only meet the needs of its own armed forces, but also become an important player in the global defense market, which once again confirms the country's ability to adapt to war conditions and strengthen its economic and military stability.
