Ukraine is switching to 4G: what you need to know about the shutdown of 3G networks

In 2025, Ukrainian mobile operators will begin to gradually turn off 3G networks. This decision was made to optimize the use of frequencies and redirect them to support more modern and faster 4G technology, which will improve the quality of communication for users.

According to the National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications and Radio Frequency Spectrum (NCEC), the transition will be organized taking into account the interests of consumers. Mobile operators are required to inform their subscribers in advance about the shutdown of 3G in each region and offer convenient conditions for the transition to 4G.

Users of smartphones that already support 4G/LTE do not need to take additional measures. For such devices, the transition will be automatic, and subscribers will continue to use communication services without changes.

For those who use phones without 4G support, NKEK recommends updating their devices to have access to high-speed mobile Internet. This will ensure uninterrupted communication and allow you to use all modern mobile communication features.

The shutdown of 3G networks will not affect basic services such as voice calls and SMS. However, for convenient use of mobile Internet, it is necessary to switch to 4G. This will avoid possible inconveniences and gain access to faster and more stable Internet connections.

The National Commission also emphasizes that mobile operators are actively working to ensure the availability of 4G in remote regions of Ukraine. Thanks to the release of frequencies from 3G, users even in the most remote corners of the country will be able to use high-quality communication and high-speed Internet.
