The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially put into operation a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of Ukrainian production called "Chaklun". This drone has already received codification and will be supplied to military units, which will significantly strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces in combat conditions.
The "Chaclun" drone is built according to an aircraft scheme, which ensures its compactness and maneuverability. Despite its small size, the drone has a wide range of functionality. One of its key advantages is the ability to adjust artillery fire, which makes it an important tool in military operations. The use of modern materials gives the "Magic" high resistance to the enemy's radio-electronic warfare.
Separately, it is worth noting that specialized software developed by Ukrainian specialists is used to control this drone. This allows for high efficiency of drone control, even in adverse weather conditions. As the Ministry of Defense emphasized, weather factors do not become an obstacle to its use on the battlefield.
This is not the first case of supplying domestic unmanned systems to the army. In September, the Ministry of Defense also codified and approved for delivery the Black Widow drone, which is already used in military operations. The development of unmanned technologies is becoming an important direction of Ukraine's defense strategy.
Since the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Defense through its "Defense Procurement Agency" has contracted more than 400,000 drones of various types. Among them are both small FPV drones for tactical operations and long-range dipstrikes capable of hitting targets deep in enemy territory. The vast majority of these drones are manufactured in Ukraine, which emphasizes the high level of development of the domestic defense industry.
In September, the Defense Procurement Agency also set a new record for the cost-effectiveness of drone purchases. An agreement was concluded for the supply of 1,300 DJI Mavic drones of various modifications for the amount of UAH 162.69 million, which became the cheapest agreement in the Prozorro system.
