Great Britain will supply Ukraine with new artillery systems and long-range weapons

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov held a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Great Britain John Geely during the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to London. The main topic of the negotiations was the further military support of Ukraine, in particular in the form of the supply of weapons and training of the Ukrainian military to increase the country's defense capabilities both at the moment and in the future.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the British side continues to provide important military assistance. Great Britain regularly supplies Ukrainian forces with the necessary ammunition, including artillery and mortar shells, anti-aircraft defense equipment, as well as anti-tank mines, which significantly strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities.

In addition, Minister Umyerov announced that new AS-90 artillery systems will appear on the Ukrainian front by the end of 2024. This heavy self-propelled artillery is able to provide effective support to the Ukrainian forces, providing an advantage in firepower on the battlefield.

Another important aspect of cooperation was the promise of long-range weapons and robotic systems. According to Umyerov, this will significantly affect the course of hostilities, allowing the Ukrainian military to attack the enemy even more effectively. He emphasized that timely support from Western partners is critical for a successful fight against Russian aggression.

The issues of training and support of Ukrainian military units were also discussed. Great Britain actively participates in the training of the strategic reserve brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, providing both technical and tactical support. In addition, the ministers agreed on joint work on the priority needs of the Ukrainian army, which will be financed at the expense of frozen Russian assets.

As part of the negotiations, the parties also raised the issue of investments in the development of the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine. Great Britain is already involved in the production of military equipment, but plans include further expansion of this cooperation and an increase in production volumes to meet the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces.
